My Journey to Confident Lighting

Hi, I’m Mikaela Morgan, a portrait and boudoir photographer in the UK. I started in 2005 and have experienced it all — from weddings to portraits, natural light to studio flashes. I almost gave up photography entirely in 2010. I was stressed, anxious, and burned out from weddings and outdoor shoots.


But discovering boudoir photography changed everything. Lighting creatively opened up a whole new world. It doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive — it can be simple, dramatic, and deeply rewarding. And now I want to show you how.

Inspired by Old Hollywood lighting from the early-mid 20th century, I create dramatic, moody portraits with just 1-2 lights or natural light. Simple setups that let me focus on connecting with clients and getting incredible results - without stress or wasted time.
